About Spunky Monkeys
Spunky Monkeys Philosophy
Spunky Monkeys Early Learning Centre & Preschools operates with the philosophy that children need to be treated with warmth and respect. The service will promote learning and development for all ages and recognises that the skills and knowledge learnt in the child’s early years are the foundations for the child’s learning for later years.
A. We believe that by providing an environment and the availability of appropriate experiences at the right stages of development are crucial in children’s development and we will be a leader in learning excellence.
B. The children in the care of Spunky Monkeys will be provided with experiences that nurture their physical health and wellbeing, social competence, emotional maturity, communication skills and general knowledge. The children’s development of independence, decision making, problem solving and social skills through play are all paramount to our daily interactions, experiences and events.
C. Educators continually promote a fun, friendly, caring and welcoming environment for our children to foster positive self-esteem, self-worth and belonging. Children will be encouraged and guided in ways to discuss problems and to cope with frustrations as they continue to develop on who they are becoming. Educators encourage children to respect the rights of others and welcome diversity.
D. We recognise that every day is an opportunity to learn something new through play, learning from others, discovery, exploration and adventures. Educators encourage two-way communication between families and Educators. Parent input is one of our most valuable resources to support the education and development of the children in our care. We aim to be flexible and responsive to suggestions.
E. We consider the health and safety of the children as a paramount concern and is imbedded within our everyday practices and programming. We aim to have the highest standards of care within the profession and are consistently looking for ways to improve.
F. We recognise that children belong to a family unit with its own unique culture, community, experiences and needs. We value the support and input provided by families. We draw on information, celebrations and knowledge from the local and wider community to explore and develop. Children are active participants in their social and physical environments and are becoming part of their community.
G. Spunky Monkeys understands the importance of exploring and educating children about the environment around us, both built and natural. We are actively working towards creating and educating children about a sustainable future. Through this, our indoor and outdoor spaces are utilised to explore sustainable practices and provide children with the opportunity to engage in quality experiences in both built and natural environments.
H. We aim to ensure that Spunky Monkeys curriculum will reflect on current theorist and practices, whilst working within the National Quality Standards (NQS).
I. Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF). Being, Belonging and Becoming are incorporated in all centres planning and programming. We are guided by the EYLF Principals and Practice and this is reflected in our everyday activities. Our program is guided by the five learning outcomes that make up the EYLF. These outcomes are: (1) Children have strong sense of identity (2) Children are connected with and contribute to their world (3) Children have a strong sense of wellbeing (4) Children are confident and involved learners (5) Children are effective communicators.
J. We work alongside the Australian Childcare Code of Ethics and the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child and implement this in our everyday activities.

EVERYDAY IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN THROUGH PLAY
Educating your child.
Spunky Monkeys provides a well-balanced, stimulating and educational program for your child. We value and encourage parents to be involved in our centre and its program. We are educators that dedicate our training to help children in our care to grow and develop through play. At Spunky Monkeys your child will enjoy exploring and playing in our welcoming indoor and outdoor environments. We have numerous play spaces for children to enjoy, our sandpit, tea garden and softfall areas.
We believe education starts with a child’s interest, we simply explore this interest and add learning opportunities along the way. We begin to develop self help skills and independence while exploring the world and environment around us. Children commonly ask their teachers ‘But Why?’ and we enjoy investigating the answers.
